Providers were in your shoes once, they know how you’re feeling.ĭon’t get me wrong, you might not enjoy or every provider, and the trauma of the ER may be too much for you. It’s okay to be shy at first, but just try to converse at least a few times. If you’re really quiet and don’t talk, it will be boring. ![]() There’s one provider where like we move so fast and talk about things such as help with applying to med school, wakeboarding, bowfishing, and sports ALL day. Yeah man, I mean don’t get me wrong the pay was garbage and I totally see how unappreciated you can be if you don’t get along with a provider HOWEVER, when you do get along with one it’s like you and your best friend saving the day. If you conversate and make friends with the providers, I promise you will have the best time of your life while working in the ER seeing everything from EMS trips for stubbed toes to walk-in gunshot wounds. Make conversation, talk about sports, talk about the crazy patients. Stick out the training, respect the medical staff, and have fun homie. ![]() The process of getting hired with SA is a PITA and can take several weeks or even months in my case, but once you get to a location where the providers actually appreciate you, you'll love it. The problem too was a lot of the administrations haven't given the "OK" to allow the "normal" amount of nurses, providers, and other medical staff to return to pre-covid hours, so everyone is doing double the work with half the amount of people. Nearly every hospital is understaffed ATM, they just raised my wage due to the fact the retention rate is SO low due to low pay. My chief lets me do only weekday shifts as long as I do 1-2 Friday, Saturday, OR Sunday shift a month. ![]() Talk with your chief scribe because each location differs, but for the most part they want to work with you. I think it's like 6 shifts a week you gotta be open, 1 overnight a month, and an occasional night shift. Their availability is very open for the most part, you can practically set your own schedule if there's enough people to work around it.
